À propos de l'événement

Join us for this exclusive keynote with Dr. Gilles Besin, Head of RNA and In Vivo CAR, BMS.

Dr Bessin will be giving a masterclass on "Advancing In Vivo RNA CAR Therapies Toward Clinical Use in Autoimmune Diseases and Oncology".

Dr. Gilles Besin has more than 15 years of research experience in immunology and vaccines for infectious diseases, oncology, and metabolic and rare disorders. He is currently Head of RNA and In Vivo CAR at Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS), a role he assumed following BMS’s $1.5B acquisition of Orbital Therapeutics, where he previously served as Chief Scientific Officer and built the company and its research portfolio.

Before Orbital Therapeutics, Dr. Besin led all discovery research at Affinivax, a company acquired by GSK for $3.3B. As Head of Discovery, he directed teams that discovered and developed vaccine candidates targeting Staphylococcus, Klebsiella, Pseudomonas, Clostridium difficile, and, more recently, SARS-CoV-2, and supported the development of the Streptococcus pneumoniae vaccine pipeline.

Earlier in his career at Moderna, Dr. Besin led the immunology platform, focusing on optimizing mRNA delivery and modulating T cell responses in cancer and autoimmune diseases using lipid nanoparticle–based mRNA delivery. He also contributed to numerous mRNA vaccines against cancer and infectious diseases, several of which advanced into clinical development.

Prior to Moderna, Dr. Besin worked on the delivery of therapeutic nucleic acids and helped develop mRNA vaccines in collaboration with Sanofi Pasteur and CureVac under the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
